To make these sloppy joes, I started by dumping some ground chicken into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I crumbled the ground chicken well as it cooked.

I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground chicken while it was cooking.

I stirred the onions and ground chicken together well.

Once the ground chicken was fully cooked, I added some marinara sauce, basil pesto, salt and pepper to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ground chicken was coated in sauce.

Then I reduced the heat to low and added some shredded Parmesan cheese to the pan.

I stirred until the Parmesan cheese was melted and then left the mixture to continue cooking over low heat while I prepared the buns.

I placed some brioche buns in a single layer on a baking sheet.

I spread the buns with garlic margarine.

Then I placed the baking sheet in the oven and toasted the buns for five minutes.

After five minutes I removed the toasted garlic buns from the oven.

I spoon the chicken sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom buns.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make These Chicken Parmesan Sloppy Joes:

  • 1 lb lean ground chicken
  • 1 cup diced yellow onion
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp basil pesto
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1/4 cup garlic margarine or butter
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

How to Make Chicken Parmesan Sloppy Joes:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F for toasting the buns.
  2. Dump the ground chicken into a large saute pan over medium – high heat.
  3. Crumble the ground chicken well as it cooks.
  4. Add the diced onions to the pan with the ground chicken while it’s cooking.
  5. Stir the ground chicken and diced onions together well.
  6. Once the ground chicken is completely cooked, add the marinara, basil pesto, salt and pepper to the pan.
  7. Stir until the ground chicken is completely coated in the sauce.
  8. Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded Parmesan to the pan.
  9. Stir well again and leave the mixture to continue cooking over low heat while you prepare the buns.
  10. Lay the brioche buns in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  11. Spread the garlic margarine on the buns.
  12. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the buns for 5 minutes.
  13. Once the buns are toasted, spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom buns.
  14. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sloppy joe mixture and then cover with the top buns.
  15. Serve and enjoy!
