To make the fried beef tacos, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground beef.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added a packet of taco seasoning and a can of Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies to the pan.

I stirred until all of the meat was coated in the seasoning.

I continued cooking the meat mixture until no liquid remained in the bottom of the pan.

Then I removed the pan from the heat.

I placed some 6 inch flour tortillas on the counter.

I sprinkled some shredded Mexican cheese blend on half of each of the tortillas.

Then I spooned some of the taco meat on top of the cheese.

I sprinkled some more shredded cheese on top of the meat.

Then I folded the tortillas in half and used two toothpicks per taco to hold the tortillas closed.

I heated one inch of canola oil over medium-high heat in a large saute pan until it reached 370F.

Then I used tongs to drop the tacos into the oil.

I was able to fit six tacos at a time in my saute pan.

I let the tacos cook until the bottoms were golden brown.

Then I flipped them to brown the other side.

It took two to three minutes per side for the tacos to brown nicely.

Once the tacos were cooked I used tongs to transfer them to a paper towel lined dish to soak up the oil.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make These Fried Tacos:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
  • 10 oz Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • 1 oz taco seasoning
  • 12 x 6 inch flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend

How to Make Fried Tacos:

  1. Dump the ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the diced onions to the pan with the ground beef.
  3. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.
  4. Once the ground beef if fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium.
  6. Add the Rotel and taco seasoning to the pan.
  7. Stir until all of ground beef is coated in the seasoning.
  8. Leave the mixture to continue cooking until no liquid remains in the bottom of the pan.
  9. Remove the pan from the heat.
  10. Lay the tortillas on the counter.
  11. Divide one cup of the shredded cheese evenly between the twelve tortillas and sprinkle it on one half of each tortilla.
  12. Spoon the meat mixture over the shredded cheese on each of the tortillas.
  13. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top of the meat mixture.
  14. Fold the tortillas in half to form tacos and use two toothpicks per taco to hold them together.
  15. Heat one inch of canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to 370F.
  16. Use tongs to drop the tacos in the oil.
  17. Cook the tacos until the bottoms are golden brown. 2 – 3 minutes.
  18. Flip the tacos and continue cooking until the other sides are golden brown. 2 – 3 minutes.
  19. Use the tongs to transfer the cooked tacos to a paper towel lined plate or dish to soak up the oil.
  20. Allow the tacos to cool slightly before serving.
  21. Serve and enjoy!
