This shepherd’s pie recipe takes just over an hour from start to finish and serves four people.

To make this shepherd’s pie, I started by peeling and quartering some potatoes.

Then I set my Instant Pot to Saute and added some olive oil to the pot.

I added a pound of lean ground beef to the pot.

I also added some diced yellow onions to the pot.

I crumbled the ground beef well.

While the ground beef was cooking, I added some garlic puree to the pot.

I stirred well.

Once the ground beef had only a small amount of pink remaining, I turned off the Instant Pot.

I added some water to the pot and scraped the bottom of the pot well.

 

I added some salt, pepper and Italian seasoning to the pot.

I stirred well.

Then I added some frozen mixed vegetables to the pot.

Then I placed a trivet in the pot and placed the quartered potatoes on top.

I placed the lid on the pot, turned the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to pressure cook on HIGH for 12 minutes.

Once the Instant Pot was done pressure cooking, I left it to natural release for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, I turned the steam release handle to the venting position to release the remaining pressure.

Then I removed the lid from the pot.

I used the trivet to lift the potatoes out of the pot and transfer them to a mixing bowl.

I set the Instant Pot to Saute and added some brown gravy mix to the pot.

I stirred well and cooked the mixture for a few minutes.

Then I turned the Instant Pot off and transferred the ground beef mixture to a greased 8 x 8 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I added some milk and softened butter to the bowl with the potatoes.

I also added some salt, pepper and garlic puree to the bowl.

Then I used an electric mixer to whip the potatoes.

Once no lumps remained, I spread the potatoes on top of the meat mixture in the baking dish.

Then I used a fork to make lines in the potatoes.

I placed the dish under the broiler just until the potatoes started to brown.

I removed the dish from the oven and allowed it to sit for a few minutes.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Instant Pot Shepherd’s Pie:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

How to Make Instant Pot Shepherd’s Pie:

    1. Set Instant Pot to Saute and add oil to the pot.

    6. Stir well.
    7. Continue cooking the beef until there is almost no pink remaining.
    8. Turn off the Instant Pot.

    11. Add the frozen mixed vegetables to the pot.
    12. Place a trivet in the pot and place the potatoes on top.
