To make this dish, I started by dumping some ground beef, diced onion, diced green bell pepper and minced garlic into a 5 quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

I also added some beef broth and uncooked macaroni noodles to the pot.

I stirred all of the ingredients together well.

I reduced the heat to medium-low and placed a lid on the pot.

I continued cooking for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  2. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, paprika, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, beef broth, and macaroni noodles to meat mixture.
  3. Stir to combine.
  4. Reduce heat to medium low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes stirring occasionally.
  5. Dish is done when noodles are tender.
  6. Serve warm with grated cheese, if desired.
  7. Enjoy!

Notes

  • I prefer a 93% or higher lean ground beef for this recipe so there is less grease. If needed, drain grease prior to adding remaining ingredients.
  • You can omit the sugar from this recipe, I use it to cut the acidity from the canned tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
  • If you do not stir the dish while cooking the noodles will stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • This dish is great on its own or topped with cheese. I would recommend grated parmesan or cheddar.
  • Save leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

I make my goulash a little bit different than this recipe. I have to have lots of flavor in my food. Here's a list of my ingredients. I use elbow macaroni cooked almost done. Drain and set aside. Ground beef Onion Green pepper Fire roasted diced tomatoes Tomato paste Ketchup Chili sauce Worcestershire sauce Onion and garlic powder Black pepper
