To make this taco bake, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced yellow onions to the pan with the ground beef.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added an undrained can of Rotel and a packet of taco seasoning to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ground beef was coated in taco seasoning.

I cooked the ground beef and Rotel mixture for a few minutes, until no liquid remained in the pan.

Then I removed the pan from the heat and set it aside.

I sprayed a 16-inch round baking sheet with cooking spray.

Then I opened two packages of Pillsbury crescent rolls and separated all sixteen triangles of dough.

Then I arranged the triangles in a circle with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points extending to the outside of the pan.

I left a 5 inch opening in the center of the ring.

Then I added some shredded Mexican cheese blend to the pan with the ground beef mixture.

I stirred the cheese into the meat.

Then I scooped the meat mixture in a circle on top of the wide ends of the crescent rolls.

I sprinkled some more shredded cheese on top of the meat.

Then I brought the points of the triangles up over the meat and tucked them under the dough in the center to form a ring.

I placed the pan in the oven and baked the taco ring until the crescent rolls were golden brown.

Then I removed the pan from the oven.

I placed a bowl in the center of the ring with some shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and sour cream.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Taco Ring:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onions
  • 10 oz Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, not drained
  • 1 oz taco seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 2 cans ( 8 oz each) Pillsbury crescent roll dough

Optional Toppings for Serving

  • shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, guacamole

How to Make this Taco Ring:

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Dump ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the diced onions to the pan and stir well.
  4. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.
  5. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
  6. Add the Rotel and taco seasoning to the pan and stir well.
  7. Continue cooking until there is no liquid in the bottom of the pan.
  8. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
  9. Spray a large round baking sheet with cooking spray.
  10. Open the packets of crescent dough and separate the 16 triangles.
  11. Arrange the triangles of dough in a circle with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points extending to the edge of the pan. Leave a 5″ hole in the center of the ring.
  12. Add 1 cup of the shredded cheese to the pan with the ground beef mixture and stir well.
  13. Scoop the ground beef mixture in a circle on top of the wide ends of the crescent dough.
  14. Sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded cheese on top of the meat.
  15. Bring the point of the crescent dough over the meat and tuck them under the dough in the center of the ring.
  16. Place the pan in the oven and bake the taco ring until the crescent rolls are golden brown. 18-22 minutes.
  17. Remove the taco ring from the oven and serve with your desired toppings.

Can you make this smaller and use only one can of crescent rolls?
