Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make Halloween Dirt Cups ahead of time?
- Yes! You can assemble the pudding and Oreo layers several hours or up to a day ahead and store them covered in the refrigerator. For the best appearance and texture, add the coconut and Halloween candy shortly before serving.
Can I use a different flavor of pudding?
- Absolutely. Vanilla, cheesecake, white chocolate, butterscotch, pistachio, or Oreo instant pudding would all work well. You can even tint a light-colored pudding with orange gel food coloring for Halloween.
Do I have to add peanut butter?
- No. You can leave the peanut butter out completely or replace it with Nutella, cookie butter, or another spread you enjoy.
How do I keep the jack o’ lantern chocolates standing upright?
- Push the chocolates firmly into the Oreo crumbs so they have enough support. You can also pile a little toasted coconut behind them to help keep them upright.
