- 6 tbsp. unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup flour
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced

Step by Step Instructions
STEP 1:
I melted some butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
I added some flour to the skillet and whisked the butter and flour together well.
I continued cooking the butter and flour mixture for about 3 minutes.

STEP 2:
I added some milk and chicken broth to the skillet and stirred well.
I continued cooking until the mixture thickened.

STEP 3:
I added some minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, chicken bouillon powder, parsley, thyme, salt and pepper to the skillet.
I whisked well and continued cooking for a couple minutes.

STEP 4:
I poured some frozen shredded hashbrowns, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon pieces, diced onions and sour cream into a large mixing bowl and stirred all of the ingredients together well.
I added the prepared sauce mixture to the bowl and stirred well again.


STEP 5:
I sprayed my crockpot well with cooking spray and then poured in the hashbrown mixture.
I pressed the mixture down and spread it out evenly.
I cooked the hashbrown mixture on low for 3 hours.

STEP 6:
About 30 minutes before cooking was finished I sprinkled some shredded cheddar cheese on top so that it could melt in the final 30 minutes of cooking time.

I sprinkled some cooked bacon pieces on top of the casserole just before serving.

- Add garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, chicken bouillon powder, parsley, and thyme. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Whisk and cook 1-2 minutes more.
- In a very large mixing bowl, add the hashbrowns, 2 cups of shredded cheese, half of the bacon, and onion. Add the sour cream, and mix.
- Add the sauce mixture, and stir well until everything is combined.
- Spray your crockpot with nonstick spray, and add the hashbrown mixture.
- Press into the crockpot and smooth into an even layer.
- Cook on low for 3-4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before cooking is finished, sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese over top, and allow it to melt while cooking finishes.
