Step by Step Instructions for Making Alfredo Bacon Pizza Twists

 STEP 1:

I started by covering a large cutting board with parchment paper.

I popped open one tube of Pillsbury pizza crust and unrolled it onto the parchment paper.

I stretched out the dough a bit and tried to make it into as even a rectangle as possible.

 STEP 2:

I melted some butter in a small glass bowl in the microwave.

I added some garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the bowl.

I stirred the butter and seasonings together well.

 STEP 3:

I brushed approximately half of the butter mixture over the pizza crust on the cutting board, covering it completely.

I unrolled a second sheet of Pillsbury pizza crust and stretched it to cover the bottom crust completely.

I used a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 8 strips.

I lined a full sized baking sheet with parchment paper.

I carefully twisted up each of the strips of stuffed dough and placed them on the baking sheet.

I brushed the tops of the pizza twists with the remaining melted butter mixture.

 STEP 8:

I placed the baking sheet in the oven and baked the twists until the dough was starting to brown.

 STEP 9:

I removed the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkled some shredded mozzarella and crumbled bacon on top.

How should I store my pizza twists?

  • Allow any leftovers to cool completely and then transfer them to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • These pizza twists can be reheated in the microwave but if you like them crispy I recommend reheating in an air fryer.

What substitutions could I make?

  • Pillsbury Pizza Crust: You can use any store bought raw pizza dough for this recipe or even make your own if you prefer.
  • Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese: A variety of cheeses could be used in this recipe including provolone and Monterey jack.
  • Cooked and Crumbled Bacon: I used Kirkland precooked bacon strips and microwaved them until crispy but to save time you could just use the real bacon crumble that is sold for salads.
