To make this dish, I started by pouring some mayonnaise, relish, ketchup, mustard, sugar, vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder into a small bowl.
I mixed the ingredients together well and set the sauce aside.
I took a pound of ground beef and divided it into four equal portions.
I lay out some flour tortillas and pressed out one portion of the ground beef onto one of the tortillas, spreading it out evenly to cover the entire tortilla.
I repeated the process until all four tortillas had a layer of ground beef on them.
I sprinkled some salt and pepper over the ground beef.
I heated a skillet over medium-high heat and lightly coated it with oil.
I placed a tortilla, ground beef side down in the skillet.
I pressed down with a spatula to form a thin patty.
I allowed the ground beef to cook for a few minutes until a nice crust formed.
Then I flipped it so that the tortilla side was down.
I placed a slice of cheese on top of the patty.
I continued cooking until the tortilla reached the desired level of crispiness.
Then I removed the smash burger taco from the skillet.
I repeated the process until all of the burger tacos were cooked.
I topped my burger tacos with shredded lettuce, diced onions, pickles and the prepared sauce.
Then the smash burger tacos were ready to serve.

Notes
- The sauce can made the day ahead. I do recommend making the sauce at least 30 – 60 minutes before serving. It tastes better when the ingredients have had time to meld together after mixing.
- This recipe uses the fajita size tortillas that are 6 inches in size. You can make smaller tacos by using street tacos size tortillas. You will just need to adjust the amount of meat on each tortilla. You can usually get about 8 street taco size smash burger tacos when using the street taco size.
- The burger sauce can be replaced with your favorite burger condiments such as ketchup, mustard, mayo, ect.
- This recipe works best with a griddle so you make the tacos all at once. Depending on the size of your pan, you may only be able to cook 1 – 2 tacos at a time.
- Any leftover sauce should be stored in the refrigerator for 5 days.
- The recipe for the sauce makes a lot, but feel free to cut in half if not using it for all the burgers.
- This recipe uses American cheese, but feel free to use your favorite kind of cheese in place of it.
