  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb sausage meat ( I used mild Italian )
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced green bell peppers
  • 10 ounce can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, not drained
  • 23 ounce jar salsa con queso
  • 4 oz cream cheese cut into cubes
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
  • Tortilla chips or Doritos for serving over

 STEP 1: 

I dropped ground beef and sausage meat into a large skillet over medium-high heat.

I crumbled and cooked the meat until no pink remained.

Instructions

  1. Drop the ground beef and sausage meat into a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Crumble the meat well and cook until no pink remains.
  3. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder and chili powder to the skillet. Stir well and continue cooking for a few minutes.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked meat to the slow cooker.
  5. Add the diced onions, green peppers, Rotel, salsa con queso and cream cheese cubes to the slow cooker.
  6. Stir well. Place the lid on the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 1.5 hours.
  7. Remove the lid from the slow cooker and stir well.
  8. Add the shredded cheese and stir again.
  9. Place Doritos or tortilla chips on a plate and spoon the mixture over them.
  10. Top with sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, cilantro and jalapenos if desired.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
