Step by Step Instructions for Making Ground Beef and Dumplings
STEP 1:
To make this ground beef and dumplings, I started by heating some olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
Once the oil was hot, I added some lean ground beef to the pot.
STEP 2:
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
I added some diced onions to the pot with the ground beef as it was cooking.
STEP 3:
I continued stirring and cooking until the ground beef was fully browned and the onions were translucent.
STEP 4:
I added some chopped garlic and Italian seasoning to the pot.
I stirred well and continued cooking for about a minute.
STEP 5:
I added a can of condensed cheddar soup and a can of condensed cream of bacon soup to the pot.
I also added some chicken broth and half and half cream to the pot.
STEP 6:
I stirred all of the ingredients together until well combined.
STEP 7:
I added some frozen mixed veggies.
I stirred the veggies into the soup mixture.
I brought the liquid to a boil.
STEP 8:
While I was waiting for it to boil I opened a can of Pillsbury refrigerated biscuit dough.
I cut each of the biscuits into six pieces.
STEP 9:
Once the liquid was boiling I added the biscuit dough pieces to the pot.
I stirred well, placed a lid on the pot and reduced the heat to medium-low.
I left the ground beef and dumplings to simmer for fifteen minutes.
STEP 10:
After fifteen minutes I removed the lid and stirred the contents well.
I removed the dish from the heat and allowed it to rest for a few minutes.
Then the ground beef and dumplings were ready to serve.
This comforting dish combines hearty ground beef, tender dumplings, and a rich, creamy sauce made from cream of bacon and cheddar soups.
