To make this dish, I started by dumping some shredded rotisserie chicken into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I sprinkled some diced onions on top.

Then I poured some Bisquick mix into a mixing bowl.

I added some milk to the bowl.

I stirred the Bisquick and milk together until fully combined.

I dropped the Bisquick batter by the spoonful on top of the chicken and onions in the baking dish.

Then I dumped two cans of condensed cream of chicken soup into a mixing bowl.

I added some chicken broth to the bowl.

I also added some salt, pepper and ground sage to the bowl.

I whisked all of the ingredients together well.

Then I poured the mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish.

I covered the dish with aluminum foil and placed it in the oven.

After forty-five minutes I removed the foil from the dish and left it to continue baking until the top was starting to brown very slightly.

Then I removed the dish from the oven.

I allowed the casserole to sit for a few minutes.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make These Baked Chicken and Dumplings:

  • 3 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
  • 2 cups Bisquick
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cans condensed cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz each)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground sage

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  3. Dump the shredded chicken into the baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the diced onions on top of the chicken.
  5. Dump the Bisquick and milk into a mixing bowl and stir until fully combined.
  6. Drop the biscuit batter by the spoonful on top of the chicken and onions in the baking dish.
  7. Pour the chicken broth and cream of chicken soup into a mixing bowl.
  8. Add the salt, pepper and ground sage to the bowl and whisk well.
  9. Pour the soup mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
  11. Bake the chicken and dumplings for 45 minutes and then remove the foil.
  12. Continue baking uncovered for an additional 15 – 20 minutes, until the top of the dumplings are just starting to brown very slightly.
  13. Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to sit for a few minutes.
