To make this hamburger casserole, I started by cooking some ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions to the pot with the ground beef while it was cooking.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I added some water to the pot.

Then I added some uncooked egg noodles to the pot.

I stirred the noodles, water and ground beef well.

Then I brought the liquid to a boil and covered the pot.

I left the noodles to cook in the covered pot for four minutes.

After four minutes, I removed the lid, reduced the heat to low and stirred the contents well.

Then I added some condensed cream of mushroom soup and canned peas and carrots to the pot.

I stirred until the noodles were well coated in the soup.

Then I added some onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the pot.

I stirred well again and then added some French’s fried onions and shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese to the pot.

I stirred the cheese and French’s fried onions into the noodle mixture.

Then I dumped the mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of the noodle mixture.

Then I sprinkled some French’s fried onions on top of the cheese.

I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until the cheese was completely melted and the fried onions were just starting to brown slightly.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Hamburger Noodle Casserole:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 cups egg noodles
  • 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 14.5 oz canned peas and carrots, drained
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup French’s fried onions
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese

Topping

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup French’s fried onions

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Place ground beef in a large pot over medium-high heat along with a dab of butter or margarine.
  3. Added diced onions to the pot with the ground beef while it’s cooking.
  4. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.
  5. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, add the water and egg noodles to the pot.
  6. Stir well.
  7. Bring the water to a boil, cover the pot and leave to cook for 4 minutes.
  8. After 4 minutes, remove the lid, stir well and reduce heat to low.
  9. Add the cream of mushroom soup and peas and carrots to the pot.
  10. Stir until noodles are well coated in soup.
  11. Add the onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the pot.
  12. Add the French’s fried onions and shredded mozzarella and cheddar to the pot.
  13. Stir well.
  14. Dump the mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan and spread it out evenly.
  15. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar on top.
  16. Sprinkle French’s fried onions on top of the cheese.
  17. Place the dish in the oven and bake the casserole into the cheese is completely melted and the fried onions are just starting to brown.
