To make this hamburger casserole, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced yellow onions to the pan with the beef while it was cooking.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I turned off the heat and drained the excess grease from the pan.

I dumped some ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and onion powder into a medium mixing bowl.

I stirred the ingredients together well.

Then I added the sauce mixture to the pan with the ground beef.

I stirred until all of the ground beef was coated in sauce.

Then I added some French’s crispy fried onions to the pan.

I stirred well again.

I dumped the sloppy joe mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

Then I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of the meat.

I opened a package of Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits and cut each one into six pieces.

I placed the biscuit pieces on top of the cheese, spacing them out as evenly as possible.

Then I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until the biscuits on top were nicely browned.

  7. Add the sauce mixture to the pan with the ground beef.
  8. Stir until the ground beef is all coated in sauce.
  9. Add the French’s fried onions to the pan and stir well again.

  11. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  12. Open the package of biscuits and cut each one into 6 pieces.
  13. Place the biscuit pieces on top of the cheese, spacing them out as evenly as possible.
