This recipe is for cooking 5lbs of potatoes, so it is perfect for parties and gatherings.
To make these Instant Pot mashed potatoes, I started by washing 5lbs of yellow fleshed potatoes and then cutting them into quarters.
I left the skin on my potatoes as I like the flavour it adds.
You could peel your potatoes if you prefer.
Then I poured a cup of water into my Instant Pot.
I added the potato quarters to the pot.
Then I placed the lid on the Instant Pot, turned the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook High for 15 minutes.
Once the Instant Pot was done cooking, I immediately turned the steam release handle to the venting position and did a quick release.
I removed the lid from the Instant Pot and then drained the liquid from the pot.
Then I started mashing the potatoes with a potato masher.
After the potatoes were mostly mashed, I added some Campbell’s condensed cream of bacon soup, butter, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to the pot.
I continued mashing until all of the ingredients were fully combined with the potatoes and no large chunks remained.
Then I added some crumbled bacon and shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese to the pot.
I stirred the bacon and cheese into the mashed potatoes.
Then the potatoes were ready to serve.

Ingredients
- 5 lbs yellow fleshed potatoes, rinsed
- 1 cup water
- 10.5 oz condensed cream of bacon soup
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
- ½ cup crumbled bacon
Instructions
- Cut potatoes into quarters.
- Pour water into the bottom of the Instant Pot.
- Dump potato quarters into the Instant Pot.
- Place the lid on the Instant Pot, turn the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook High for 15 minutes.
- Once the Instant Pot is done cooking, immediately turn the steam release handle to the venting position and do a quick release.
- Drain the liquid from the pot.
- Mash the potatoes with a potato masher.
- Add the cream of bacon soup, butter, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to the pot.
- Continue mashing until all of the ingredients are combined with the potatoes and no large chunks remain.
- Add the shredded cheddar, mozzarella and crumbled bacon to the pot. Stir well.
- Serve and enjoy!
