STEP 1:
To make this beef taco salad, I started by dumping a pound of lean ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat.
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
STEP 2:
Once the ground beef was cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.
Then I added a packet of taco seasoning, onion powder, salt and some water to the pan.
I stirred well and continued cooking over medium-high heat until all of the ground beef was coated in seasoning and no liquid remained in the pan.
STEP 3:
Then I removed the pan from the heat and set the ground beef aside to cool.
I chopped up a head of iceberg lettuce and dumped the lettuce into a large mixing bowl.
Then I added some diced red onions, diced green peppers and diced fresh tomatoes to the bowl.
STEP 4:
I also added some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
I tossed all of the ingredients together.
STEP 5:
Then I added some salsa, ranch dressing and the cooled ground beef to the bowl.
I tossed well again.
STEP 6:
Then I added some crumbled Doritos to the bowl.
I tossed again, just until the Doritos were mixed into the salad.
I served the salad immediately so that the Doritos would not get soggy.
