To make this soup, I started by dicing a yellow onion.
Then I dumped the diced onion into the bottom of my Instant Pot.
I also peeled and finely diced some carrot.
I added the diced carrot to the Instant Pot.
I also finely chopped some celery.
I added the chopped celery to the pot.
Then I diced some smoked ham.
I added the diced ham to the pot.
Then I poured some chicken broth and water into the Instant Pot.
I added some salt, pepper, ground sage, garlic powder and onion powder to the pot.
I stirred all of the ingredients together.
Then I rinsed some yellow split peas.
I added the peas to the pot.
I stirred the peas into the broth.
Then I placed the lid on the Instant Pot, turned the pressure release valve to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook High for 17 minutes.
Once the Instant Pot finished pressure cooking, I left it to natural release for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, I turned the pressure release valve to the venting position and finished with a quick with release.
I removed the lid from the Instant Pot.
Then I stirred the contents well.
I allowed the soup to sit for a few minutes before serving.

- After 15 minutes, turn the steam release handle to the venting to finish with a quick release.
- Remove the lid from the Instant Pot and stir the contents well.
- Leave the soup to sit for a few minutes before serving.
