To make these air fryer chicken thighs, I started by preheating my air fryer to 380F.
Then I dumped some garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper into a small bowl.
I whisked all of the spices together.
Then I seasoned the chicken thighs on both sides with the spice mixture.
Once the air fryer was heated, I placed the chicken thighs skin side down in the air fryer basket.
I left the chicken thighs to cook for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes I used tongs to flip the chicken thighs.
Then I continued cooking them for 6 minutes.
After 6 minutes, I brushed 1 tablespoon of bbq sauce on each chicken thigh.
I continued cooking the chicken thighs until an instant read thermometer inserted into the thickest part registered 165F.
Then I transferred the chicken thighs to a serving plate.
These bbq chicken thighs can be served with a variety of different sides.
For an easy weeknight dinner serve with a simple green salad.

Recipe Success Tips
- Feel free to season your chicken to taste. Chili powder and cumin are another lovely spice combination here.
- Be sure not to cross-contaminate the barbeque sauce you use for the par-cooked chicken with the barbeque sauce you use for serving. Discard any remaining sauce you use to baste and wash your basting brush thoroughly before serving fresh barbeque sauce with the cooked chicken.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Avoid hitting the bone when testing but rather the thickest part of the meat.
- This chicken is best served fresh. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
- Reheat in the microwave with the reheat setting.
- These chicken thighs can be cooked in batches and kept warm in a 200-degree oven if cooking for a larger crowd.
