To make this Italian meatloaf, I started by dumping two pounds of lean ground beef into a large mixing bowl.

Then I added two eggs and some Italian bread crumbs to the bowl.

I used my hands to mix all of the ingredients together well.

Then I added some marinara sauce, shredded Italian cheese blend, basil pesto, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to the bowl.

I used my hands again to mix until all of the ingredients were fully combined.

Then I lined a loaf pan with aluminum foil and sprayed it with cooking spray.

I pressed the meat mixture into the loaf pan.

Then I poured some marinara sauce on top of the meat mixture and spread it out evenly.

I placed the pan in the oven and baked the meatloaf for forty minutes.

After forty minutes I removed the meatloaf from the oven.

I sprinkled some shredded Italian cheese blend on top of the meatloaf.

Then I returned the pan to the oven and continued baking the meatloaf until the cheese on top was completely melted and the meatloaf had reached an internal temperature of 160F.

I removed the pan from the oven and left the meatloaf to rest in the pan for five minutes.

After five minutes I used the foil to lift the meatloaf out of the pan.

Then the meatloaf was ready to slice and serve.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Italian Meatloaf:

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 2 eggs, large
  • 1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 1/3 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend
  • 2 tbsp basil pesto
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder

How to Make Italian Meatloaf:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Dump the ground beef into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the eggs and bread crumbs to the bowl with the ground beef.
  4. Use your hands to mix the ingredients together well.
  5. Add 1/3 cup of the marinara sauce and 1 cup of the shredded cheese to the bowl.
  6. Also added the basil pesto, salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to the bowl.
  7. Use your hands to mix until all of the ingredients are fully combined.
  8. Line a loaf pan with aluminum foil and spray it with cooking spray.
  9. Press the ground beef mixture into the loaf pan.
  10. Pour the remaining cup of marinara sauce on top of the ground beef mixture and spread it out evenly.
  11. Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake the meatloaf for 40 minutes.
  12. After 40 minutes remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese on top of the meatloaf.
  13. Return the pan to the oven and continue baking until the cheese on top is completely melted and the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160F. 15-20 minutes.
  14. Remove the pan from the oven and let the meatloaf rest in the pan for 5 minutes.
  15. After 5 minutes use the aluminum foil to lift the meatloaf from the pan.
  16. Slice, serve and enjoy!
