- Chicken: You can substitute boneless, skinless chicken breasts with boneless, skinless chicken thighs or even diced chicken tenders. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly, as thighs may take slightly longer to cook than breasts.
- Pasta: The recipe suggests using penne pasta, but you can substitute them with other types of pasta like rotini, fettuccine, rigatoni, or farfalle (bowtie pasta). Use whatever pasta shape you prefer or have on hand.
- Cheese: While Parmesan cheese adds a distinct flavor to the dish, you can experiment with other types of cheese. What should I serve with slow cooker garlic parmesan chicken pasta?
When serving Slow Cooker Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta, you can pair it with various side dishes to create a well-rounded meal. Here are some options to consider:
- Salad: A fresh and crisp salad can provide a refreshing contrast to the creamy pasta. Consider serving a simple green salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and a light vinaigrette. Alternatively, a Caesar salad with homemade dressing and croutons can complement the flavors of the pasta.
- Steamed Vegetables: Add some nutritious steamed vegetables to your meal. Broccoli, asparagus, green beans, or carrots are all excellent choices. Lightly season the vegetables with salt and pepper or a squeeze of lemon juice for added flavor.

Alternatively, store-bought garlic bread or breadsticks are convenient options.
- Roasted Vegetables: Roasting vegetables brings out their natural sweetness and adds depth of flavor. Try roasting a mix of vegetables like zucchini, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and onions. Toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast them in the oven until tender and slightly caramelized.
- Garlic Sauteed Spinach: Sautéed spinach provides a nutritious and flavorful side dish. Heat olive oil in a skillet, add minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant. Then, add fresh spinach leaves and cook until wilted. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
