To make this dish, I started by dumping some ground beef, diced onion, diced green bell pepper and minced garlic into a 5 quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
I cooked them until the ground beef was browned and the vegetables were tender.
I added some diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sugar, paprika, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to the pot.
I also added some beef broth and uncooked macaroni noodles to the pot.
I stirred all of the ingredients together well.
I reduced the heat to medium-low and placed a lid on the pot.
I continued cooking for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the macaroni noodles were tender the goulash was ready to serve.
I scooped the goulash into bowls.
I topped my goulash with some grated cheese right before serving.
This hamburger macaroni is a family friendly dish that children will love.

Notes
- I prefer a 93% or higher lean ground beef for this recipe so there is less grease. If needed, drain grease prior to adding remaining ingredients.
- You can omit the sugar from this recipe, I use it to cut the acidity from the canned tomato sauce and diced tomatoes.
- If you do not stir the dish while cooking the noodles will stick to the bottom of the pan.
- This dish is great on its own or topped with cheese. I would recommend grated parmesan or cheddar.
- Save leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
