To make this casserole, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground beef.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

When the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added some water, taco seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ground beef was coated in the taco seasoning.

I left the mixture to continue cooking over medium-high heat until no liquid remained in the pan.

Then I dumped the ground beef mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I sprinkled some Fritos corn chips on top of the ground beef.

Then I sprinkled some shredded nacho cheese blend on top of the corn chips.

I placed the baking dish in the oven and baked the casserole until the cheese on top was completely melted and just starting to brown.

I removed the casserole from the oven and sprinkled some shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes on top.

  • 1 cup diced yellow onions

  • 1 oz mild taco seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

How to Make Walking Taco Casserole:

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.

  5. When the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.

  7. Stir well and continue cooking over medium-high heat until no liquid remains in the pan.
  8. Dump the ground beef mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  9. Sprinkle the corn chips on top of the ground beef.
  10. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the corn chips.
  11. Place the dish in the oven and bake until the cheese is completely melted and just starting to brown. 15-18 minutes.
  12. Remove the casserole from the oven.
  13. Sprinkle the shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes on top.
  14. Slice and serve.
