To make this meat pie, I started by preparing a pouch of roasted garlic flavoured instant mashed potatoes according to the directions on the package.
I set the mashed potatoes aside.
Then I dumped some ground beef and ground pork into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
I stirred the ground beef and ground pork together.
Then I added some diced onions to the pan.
I crumbled the meat well as it cooked.
Once the ground beef and pork were fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.
Then I added some garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, ground sage, ground cloves, salt and pepper to the pan with the meat.
I stirred until all of the meat was coated in the spices.
Then I removed the pan from the heat.
I added the prepared mashed potatoes to the pan with the meat.
I stirred until the mashed potatoes and meat mixture were fully combined.
Then I placed a prepared pie crust into a 9 inch pie plate.
I scooped the meat and potato mixture into the pie crust.
Then I placed another pie crust on top.
I pressed the top and bottom pie crusts together around the edges of the pan and then trimmed the excess.
I used a knife to cut slits in the top of the pie crust to allow steam to escape and a fork to crimp the edges of the pie crust.
I used strips of aluminum foil to cover the edges of the pie crust.
Then I placed the meat pie in the oven and baked it until it was golden brown on top.
I removed the pie from the oven and allowed it to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
This meat pie is bursting with flavour.
