To make this ground beef and rice dish, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground beef while it was cooking.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added some condensed chicken broth and water to the pan.

I added some white minute rice to the pan.

I stirred until all of the rice was submerged in the liquid.

Then I left the dish to simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until all of the liquid was absorbed by the rice.

Once no liquid remained, I added some ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, pepper and brown sugar to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ingredients were fully combined.

I left the dish to simmer for four minutes and then I removed the pan from the heat.

I added some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese to the pan.

I stirred until the cheese was melted.

Then I sprinkled some more shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of the ground beef and rice and did not stir.

I left the dish to sit for a few minutes so that the cheese on top could melt.

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
  • 10.5 oz condensed chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups white Minute rice
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend

How to Make One Pot Sloppy Joe Ground Beef and Rice:

  1. Dump the ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the diced onions to the pan with the ground beef as it’s cooking and stir well.
  3. Crumble the ground beef well.
  4. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
  5. Add the condensed chicken broth and water to the pan with the cooked ground beef still over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the Minute rice to the pan and stir until all of the rice is submerged in the liquid.
  7. Leave to simmer, stirring occasionally, until all of the liquid is absorbed by the rice.
  8. Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, pepper and brown sugar to the pan.
  9. Stir until all of the ingredients are fully combined.
  10. Leave the dish to simmer for 4 minutes.
  11. After 4 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and add 2 cups of the shredded cheese to the pan.
  12. Stir until the cheese is melted.
  13. Sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded cheese on top and do not stir.
  14. Cover the pan and leave it to sit for a few minutes so that the cheese on top will melt.
  15. Serve and enjoy!
