To make these miniature hot dogs, I started by opening a can of Pillsbury crescent rolls but not unrolling the dough.

I cut the roll of dough into eight equal pieces.

Then I unrolled the strips of dough.

I cut each strip of dough into three equal sized pieces.

Then I cut eight regular sized hot dogs into three pieces each.

I placed a hot dog piece on an end of a strip of dough and then rolled it up.

I repeated this process with the remaining 23 pieces of hot dog and strips of dough.

I placed the crescent wrapped hot dogs onto a parchment lined baking sheet.

I cracked an egg into a small bowl.

I beat the egg well.

Then I brushed the beaten egg on to the crescent wrapped hot dogs.

I combined some poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dehydrated minced onions and salt in a small bowl.

Then I sprinkled the seasoning mixture on top of the egg brushed crescent dough.

I placed the baking sheet in the oven and baked the pigs in a blanket until the crescent dough was golden brown on top.

I removed the pan from the oven and allowed the pigs in a blanket to cool on the pan for a few minutes.

After a few minutes I transferred the mini dogs to a plate for serving.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make These Pigs in a Blanket:

  • 8 oz Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • 8 regular sized wieners
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp dehydrated minced onions
  • 1/4 tsp salt

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Open can of crescent dough but do not unroll the dough.
  3. Cut the roll of dough into 8 equally sized pieces.
  4. Unroll the strips of dough.
  5. Cut each of the 8 strips of dough into 3 pieces for a total of 24 pieces of crescent dough.
  6. Cut each of the 8 wieners into 3 equally sized pieces.
  7. Place a wiener piece on the end of one of the strips of dough and roll it up.
  8. Place the crescent wrapped wiener on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining 23 pieces of wiener and crescent dough.
  10. Crack the egg into a small bowl and beat it well.
  11. Brush the beaten egg on top of the crescent wrapped wieners on the baking sheet.
  12. Combine the poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dehydrated minced onions and salt in a small bowl.
  13. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture on top of the crescent wrapped wieners on the baking sheet.
  14. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the pigs in a blanket until the crescent dough is golden brown on top. 12 – 14 minutes.
  15. Remove the pan from the oven and leave the pigs in a blanket to cool for a few minutes.
  16. Serve and enjoy!
