Store pizza spaghetti in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze it for 1-2 months. Reheat before eating.
What substitutions could I make?
When making pizza spaghetti, there are various substitutions you can make to suit your taste preferences or dietary restrictions. Here are some common substitutions:
- Meat: You could use ground beef in place of the sausage. If you want to make it vegetarian, you can omit the meat entirely or replace it with plant-based alternatives like tofu, tempeh, or meat substitutes such as Beyond Meat or Impossible Meat.
- Cheese: For a dairy-free option, use vegan cheese or nutritional yeast. Alternatively, you can experiment with different types of cheese like cheddar, Monterey Jack or feta to change the flavor profile.
- Spaghetti: While the classic recipe uses spaghetti, you can substitute it with other pasta shapes like penne, fusilli, or farfalle.
- Pizza Sauce: If you don’t have pizza sauce on hand, you can use extra marinara sauce, tomato sauce, or even a homemade tomato-based pasta sauce.
- Vegetables: Feel free to add or replace vegetables to your liking. Common pizza toppings like onions, mushrooms, olives, and spinach work well in pizza spaghetti.
- Seasonings: Experiment with different herbs and spices like basil, oregano, thyme, or red pepper flakes to enhance the flavors.
Remember, pizza spaghetti is a flexible dish, and you can customize it to suit your taste and dietary requirements. Feel free to try out different combinations until you find the one that you enjoy the most.
What should I serve with pizza spaghetti?
When serving pizza spaghetti, you can complement the dish with a variety of sides to create a well-rounded and satisfying meal. Here are some delicious options:
- Garlic Bread: Classic garlic bread is a popular choice to serve with pizza spaghetti. You can make it by toasting slices of bread with garlic butter or olive oil, and optionally, sprinkle some grated Parmesan or mozzarella on top.
- Side Salad: A fresh and crisp side salad pairs well with the richness of pizza spaghetti. You can prepare a simple green salad with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and a light vinaigrette dressing.
- Bruschetta: This Italian appetizer consists of toasted bread topped with diced tomatoes, basil, garlic, and olive oil. It complements the flavors of pizza spaghetti and adds a refreshing touch.
- Stuffed Mushrooms: Baked or grilled stuffed mushrooms filled with a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic, herbs, and cheese can be a delicious and savory side dish.
- Roasted Vegetables: Roasted vegetables like zucchini, bell peppers, and eggplant drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with herbs can be a flavorful and nutritious accompaniment.
- Caprese Salad: A classic Caprese salad made with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil leaves, and balsamic glaze is a light and refreshing choice.
The sides you choose will depend on your personal preferences and the occasion. Feel free to mix and match to create a delightful and satisfying meal alongside your pizza spaghetti.
