To make these pressure cooker sloppy joes, I started by spraying the inside of my Instant Pot with cooking spray and setting it to Saute Normal for 10 minutes.
Then I added a pound of lean ground beef to the pot.
I also added some diced yellow onions.
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
When the Instant Pot turned off no pink remained.
I drained the grease from the pot using a turkey baster.
I dumped some ketchup into a medium mixing bowl.
I added some Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder and ground mustard to the bowl.
I stirred all of the ingredients together well.
I added some water to the pot.
Then I poured the sauce mixture into the pot.
I also added some canned diced tomatoes to the pot.
I stirred all of the ingredients in the Instant Pot together well.
Then I placed the lid on the pot, set the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to pressure cook High for 8 minutes.
When the Instant Pot finished cooking, I immediately turned the steam release handle to the venting position and performed a quick release.
Then I combined some cornstarch and water in a small bowl.
I set the Instant Pot back to the Saute setting and poured the cornstarch and water mixture into the pot.
I stirred well and left the sauce to simmer and thicken for a few minutes.
Once the sauce was nice and thick I turned the Instant Pot off.
Then I scooped the sloppy joe mixture onto some lightly toasted hamburger buns.
I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the meat mixture.
Then the ground beef sandwiches were ready to serve.
These homemade sloppy joes are packed with flavour.
