To make this casserole, I started by dumping some ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground beef while it was cooking.

Once the ground beef was almost fully cooked, I added some taco seasoning to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ground beef was coated in the seasoning.

Then I added some mild Rotel and mild chunky salsa to the pan.

I stirred well again.

Then I removed the pan from the heat.

I took 9 small flour tortillas and cut them in quarters.

Then I placed 1/3 of the tortilla pieces into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

I spooned half of the ground beef and salsa mixture on top of the tortilla pieces and spread it out evenly.

Then I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese and chopped green onions on top of the meat.

Then I placed another 1/3 of the tortilla pieces on top of of the cheese.

Followed by the remaining half of the meat mixture.

I sprinkled some more shredded cheese and green onions on top.

Then I placed the final 1/3 of tortilla pieces on top of the cheese.

Then I sprinkled some Rotel and chopped green onions on top of the cheese.

I placed the dish in the oven and baked the taco casserole until the the cheese on top was completely melted and just starting to brown.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Taco Lasagna:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
  • 1 oz mild taco seasoning
  • 1 cup mild Rotel, drained
  • 1 cup mild chunky salsa
  • 9 small flour tortillas
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

Topping

  • 1/2 cup mild Rotel, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

How to Make Taco Lasagna:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Dump ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat along with a dab of margarine or butter.
  3. Add the diced onions to the pan with the ground beef while it’s cooking.
  4. Crumble the ground beef well.
  5. When the ground beef is almost fully cooked, add the taco seasoning to the pan.
  6. Stir until all of the ground beef is coated in the seasoning.
  7. Add the Rotel and salsa to the pan and stir well again.
  8. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
  9. Cut the flour tortillas into quarters.
  10. Line the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish with 1/3 of the tortilla pieces.
  11. Spoon half of the ground beef and salsa mixture on top of the tortilla pieces and spread it out evenly.
  12. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheese on top of the meat mixture.
  13. Sprinkle 1/4 of the chopped green onions on top of the cheese.
  14. Place another 1/3 of the tortilla pieces on top.
  15. Spoon the remaining half of the ground beef mixture on top of the tortilla pieces and spread it out evenly.
  16. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheese and 1/4 cup of the chopped green onions over the meat.
  17. Place the remaining 1/3 of the tortilla pieces on top.
  18. Then sprinkle the remaining cup of cheese on top of the tortilla pieces.
  19. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of Rotel and 1/4 cup of chopped green onions on top of the cheese.
  20. Place the dish in the oven and bake the casserole until the cheese on top is fully melted and just starting to brown. 18-20 minutes.
  21. Serve and enjoy!

So delicious!! my family enjoyed it very much I will definetly make it again! I added sour cream when serving with a side of refried beans and some avocado!
