To make this casserole, I started by dumping a pound of lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

I added some diced yellow onions to the pan with the ground beef while it was cooking.

I stirred the ground beef and diced onions together well.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added some water and brown gravy mix to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ground beef was coated in gravy.

Then I reduced the heat to low and added some condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper to the pan.

I stirred until all of the ingredients were fully combined.

Then I added some canned mixed vegetables to the pan.

I stirred well again.

Then I added some shredded cheddar cheese to the pan.

I stirred the cheese into the ground beef and veggie mixture.

Then I dumped the mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I placed some frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the ground beef mixture.

Then I sprinkled some more shredded cheddar cheese on top of the tater tots.

I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until the tater tots were golden brown.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make this Tater Tot Hotdish:

  5. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.

  8. Add the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper to the pan.
  9. Stir until all of the ingredients are fully combined.
  10. Add the mixed vegetables to the pan. Stir well.
  11. Add 1 cup of the shredded cheddar to the pan and stir.
  12. Dump the ground beef mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  13. Place the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the ground beef mixture.
  14. Sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the tater tots.
  15. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake until the tater tots are golden brown. 30-35 minutes.
  16. Remove the dish from the oven and let the casserole sit for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
