To make this barbecue beef and beans recipe, I started by dropping some chopped bacon into a large skillet over medium-high heat.
I cooked the bacon pieces until they were brown and crispy.
I used a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked bacon pieces to a paper towel lined plate.
Then I dropped some lean ground beef into the skillet still over medium-high heat.
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the skillet.
I added some minced garlic to the skillet.
I stirred well and cooked the garlic for one minute.
Then I added some diced onions and diced red and green bell peppers to the skillet.
I stirred well and continued cooking until the onions were translucent.
Then I reduced the heat to low and added three cans of Bush’s Original baked beans to the skillet.
I stirred all of the ingredients together well.
I added some Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory and Brown Sugar barbecue sauce to the skillet.
I also added some ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and onion powder to the skillet.
I stirred until all of the ingredients were well combined.
I greased a 9 x 13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray.
I poured the bean mixture in the baking dish and spread it out evenly.
I sprinkled the cooked bacon pieces over the bean mixture in the baking dish.
I covered the dish with aluminum foil.
Then I placed the dish in the oven and baked the beans, covered, for forty minutes.
After forty minutes I removed the dish from the oven.
I allowed the baked beans to rest for ten minutes to allow the sauce to thicken up.
Then the baked beans with ground beef were ready to serve.
This tasty barbecue dish is great as a main but can also be served as a side dish with a variety of meals.
This comforting dish combines the rustic charm of slow-cooked baked beans with the savory goodness of perfectly seasoned ground beef.

I am going to make this! It's a better version than one I've made before. The only change I'll make is to use Baby Ray's sugar free BBQ sauce. I try really hard to avoid high fructose corn syrup, and the last time I checked the Sweet Baby ray's ingredients, it was the first ingredient. :(
