To make this casserole, I started by preparing some peppered gravy according to the directions on the package.
Then I set the gravy aside.
I dumped some pork breakfast sausage meat into a large skillet over medium-high heat.
I crumbled the sausage well as it cooked.
Once the sausage was fully cooked, I added some maple syrup to the skillet.
I stirred well until all of the sausage was coated in syrup.
I left the sausage to simmer in the syrup for three minutes.
Then I removed the skillet from the heat.
I sprayed a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
I cut some Pillsbury biscuits into one inch chunks.
I placed the chunks of biscuit dough in the bottom of the baking dish.
I spooned the cooked sausage over the biscuit dough.
I sprinkled some shredded cheddar cheese on top.
I dumped some eggs into a mixing bowl.
I added some milk, salt and pepper to the bowl.
I whisked well.
Then I poured the mixture over the ingredients in the baking dish.
I poured the prepared peppered gravy over everything.
Then I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until it was cooked through and starting to brown on top.
I removed the dish from the oven and left the casserole to sit for a few minutes.
Then the sausage breakfast casserole was ready to slice and serve.
