To make this sausage casserole, I started by dumping some pork sausage meat into a large non stick skillet over medium-high heat.
I crumbled the sausage meat well as it cooked.
Once the sausage was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.
I reduced the heat to medium-low and added some cream cheese to the skillet.
I stirred until all of the cream cheese was melted.
Then I added some maple syrup to the skillet.
I stirred well.
I also added some chopped green onions to the skillet.
I stirred well again and removed the pan from the heat.
I greased a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
I unrolled one sheet of crescent dough, placed it in the baking dish and pressed it part way up the sides of the dish.
I scooped the sausage mixture on top of the dough and spread it out evenly.
I sprinkled some shredded cheddar cheese on top of the sausage mixture.
Then I placed a second sheet of crescent dough on top.
I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until the crescents were nicely browned on top.
I removed the casserole from the oven and allowed it to sit for a few minutes.
Then the casserole was ready to slice and serve.
This cheesy sausage breakfast casserole is packed with flavour.
