To make these peanut butter bars, I started by dumping some cornflakes cereal into a large Ziploc bag.

I used a rolling pin to crush the cornflakes.

Then I lined a 9 x 9 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and sprayed it with cooking spray.

I dumped some crunchy peanut butter into a large pot over medium heat.

I added some granulated sugar and white corn syrup to the pot.

I stirred all of the ingredients together well.

Once the mixture started to bubble, I removed the pot from the heat.

I added the crumbled cornflakes to the pot.

I stirred until the cornflakes were fully combined with the peanut butter mixture.

Then I dumped the mixture into the foil lined baking pan and pressed it out evenly.

I poured some semi sweet chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl.

I added some butter to the bowl.

Then I microwaved the chocolate chips on High for 45 seconds.

I stirred well.

The chocolate chips were not fully melted so I returned them to the microwave for an additional 30 seconds.

I stirred until the chocolate was smooth.

Then I spread the melted chocolate on top of the peanut butter mixture in the baking pan.

I left the peanut butter bars to set at room temperature for about four hours.

Then I used the foil to lift the bars out of the pan.

I sliced the cornflake bars and then they were ready to serve.

  • 3 cups cornflakes
  • 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup white corn syrup
  • 1 ½ cups semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoon butter

  4. Add the sugar and corn syrup to the pot.
  5. Stir all of the ingredients together well.
  6. Stir continuously until the mixture starts to bubble.
  7. Then remove the pot from the heat and add the crushed cornflakes to the pot.
  8. Stir the cornflakes and peanut butter mixture together well.
  9. Then dump the mixture into the foil lined baking pan and press it out evenly.
  10. Pour the chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl.
  11. Add the butter to the bowl.
  12. Microwave on High for 45 seconds.
  13. Stir well.
  14. If the chocolate chips are not completely melted, microwave for an additional 30 seconds on High.
  15. Stir until smooth.
