To make these Philly cheese steak sloppy joes, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions and diced green peppers to the pan.

I stirred and crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added some water, brown gravy mix, salt and pepper to the pan.

I stirred well and left the mixture to simmer and thicken for three minutes.

Then I reduced the heat to low while I prepared the buns.

I placed some Brioche buns in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Then I toasted the buns in the oven.

Once the buns were toasted, I removed the pan from the oven.

I removed the sloppy joe pan from the heat and added some shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese to the pan.

I stirred just until the cheese was melted.

Then I scooped the sloppy joe mixture on to the bottom buns.

Then I placed the top buns on the sandwiches and they were ready to serve.

  • 4 Brioche buns

How to Make Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F for toasting the buns.
  2. Dump the ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the diced onions and diced peppers to the pan and stir well.
  4. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.
  5. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
  6. Add the water, brown gravy mix, salt and pepper to the pan.
  7. Stir well and leave to simmer and thicken for 3 minutes.
  8. Stir well again and reduce the heat to low.
  9. Place the buns in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  10. Place the baking sheet in the oven and toast the the buns for 4-5 minutes.
  11. Remove the sloppy joe pan from the heat and add the shredded cheese to the pan.
  12. Stir just until the cheese is melted.
  13. Scoop the sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted buns.
  14. Serve and enjoy!
