Step by Step Instructions for Making Southern Baked Spaghetti
STEP 1:
To make this baked pasta recipe, I started by cooking some spaghetti noodles according to the directions on the package.
Once the spaghetti was cooked, I drained it and set it aside.
STEP 2:
Then I added some olive oil to a large pot over medium-high heat.
I added some lean ground beef to the pot.
I also added some diced onions to the pot.
STEP 3:
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I reduced the heat to low and drained the grease from the pan.
STEP 4:
I added some marinara sauce to the pot.
I also added some Italian seasoning to the pot.
Then I stirred all of the ingredients together well.
STEP 5:
I added the cooked spaghetti to the pot.
I stirred until all of the spaghetti was coated in sauce.
STEP 6:
I dumped some ricotta cheese into a medium mixing bow.
Then I added an egg to the bowl.
I also added some Italian seasoning to the bowl.

I stirred all of the ingredients together well.
Then I added some shredded parmesan and shredded mozzarella and cheddar to the bowl.
I stirred well again.
STEP 8:
Then I sprayed a 9 x 13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray.
I scooped half of the spaghetti mixture into the bottom of the baking dish and spread it out evenly.
Then I scooped all of the ricotta mixture on top of the spaghetti in the baking dish and spread it out evenly.
STEP 9:
I scooped the remaining half of the spaghetti mixture on top of the ricotta.
Then I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend on top of the spaghetti.
STEP 10:
I placed the baking dish in the oven and baked the spaghetti until it was bubbling and the cheese on top was just starting to brown around the edges.
Then I removed the dish from the oven.
I sprinkled some parsley flakes on top.
Then the baked spaghetti was ready to serve.

- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Cook spaghetti according to directions on the package.
- Drain and set aside.

- Add the ground beef to the pot.
- Add the diced onions to the pot.

- Add the marinara sauce and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning to the pot and stir well.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the pot and stir until all of the noodles are coated in sauce.
- Dump the ricotta cheese into a mixing bowl.
- Add the egg and ½ tablespoon of Italian seasoning to the bowl and stir well.
- Add the shredded parmesan cheese and one cup of the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend to the bowl and stir well again.
- Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray.
- Scoop half of the spaghetti mixture into the baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Scoop all of the ricotta mixture over the spaghetti in the baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Scoop the remaining half of the spaghetti mixture over the ricotta.
- Sprinkle the remaining one and a half cups of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend on top.
- Place the baking dish in the oven and bake the spaghetti until it's bubbling and the cheese is just starting to brown around the edges. 35 - 40 minutes.
- Remove the dish from the oven.
- Sprinkle the parsley flakes on top.
