These chicken and dumplings using canned biscuits are an easy alternative to making chicken and dumplings from scratch.
To make these chicken and dumplings, I started by opening a package of Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits and cutting each one into four pieces.
Then I dumped some butter and diced onions into a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
I cooked the onions until they were translucent.
Then I added some flour to the pot and stirred it well to mix it with the butter and onions.
I cooked the flour until it was just starting to turn golden brown.
Then I added some condensed chicken broth to the pot and stirred well.
I also added some heavy cream to the pot and stirred again.
Then I brought the liquid to a boil.
Once the liquid was boiling I added some canned peas and carrots to the pot, as well as some shredded rotisserie chicken, salt, pepper, onion powder and sage.
If you don’t want to use a grocery store rotisserie chicken you could also cook your own chicken.
I love to cook seasoned chicken breasts in my Instant Pot and shred them.
It’s so quick and easy!
I stirred all of the ingredients together well and then added some cut up Pillsbury refrigerated biscuit dough to the pot.
I stirred the biscuit dough into the the mixture very gently, then reduced the heat to medium-low and covered the pot.
I left the chicken and dumplings to cook for 20 minutes, stirring gently every 5 minutes so that nothing would stick to the bottom of the pot.
After twenty minutes the chicken and dumplings were ready to serve.
This delicious dish is packed with flavour.
These chicken and dumplings are a hearty comfort food that’s sure to please the whole family.

I’ve made chicken and dumplings using several recipes over the years but this may have been the best one yet and the easiest method too. Used my leftover buttermilk brined roast chicken thighs to make it. So damn good!

Absolutely delicious! This is my first time making chicken and dumplings and this was so yum! I boiled the chicken with lots of rosemary, thyme, and salt and used that for the broth. I also added carrots and celery to sauté with the onions. 100% recommended!

Random question, would it still cook properly if I cut the biscuits into six-eight pieces instead of four? I feel like my husband complained a lot about the dumplings being too big. Lol!
