To make this shepherd’s pie, I started by dumping two pounds of lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.

I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground beef.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

I added some diced green peppers to the pan.

I stirred the green peppers into the ground beef.

Then I added some condensed cream of mushroom soup, brown gravy mix, salt and pepper to the pan.

I stirred all of the ingredients together well.

Then I dumped the ground beef mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I sprinkled some shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top of the meat mixture.

Then I prepared some instant mashed potatoes according to the directions on the package.

I spread the mashed potatoes over the cheese.

I placed the dish in the oven and baked the shepherd’s pie until the potatoes were just starting to brown around the edges of the pan.

  • 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.87 oz brown gravy mix
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
  • 8 oz instant mashed potato mix

How to Make Philly Cheese Steak Shepherd’s Pie:

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Dump the lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the diced onions to the pan.
  4. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.
  5. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
  6. Add the diced green peppers to the pan and stir well.
  7. Add the cream of mushroom soup, gravy mix, salt and pepper to the pan.
  8. Stir all of the ingredients together well.

  10. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the ground beef.

  12. Spread the prepared mashed potatoes on top of the cheese.
  13. Place the dish in the oven and bake the casserole until the mashed potatoes are just starting to brown around the edges of the pan. 23-26 minutes.
  14. Remove the dish from the oven and leave the casserole to sit for a few minutes before scooping and serving.
