To make this pizza casserole, I started by cooking some rotini pasta and then draining and setting it aside.
I browned some ground beef in a large skillet.
Once the ground beef was completely browned, I added some pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic salt, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, pepper and brown sugar to the skillet.
I stirred until all of the ingredients were fully combined.
Then I added the cooked pasta, some shredded mozzarella and chopped pepperoni to the skillet.
I stirred well.
Then I sprayed a 9 x 13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray.
I dumped the mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly.
I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella on top.
I placed some pepperoni slices on top of the mozzarella.
I placed the dish in the oven and baked until the cheese on top was melted and the pepperoni looked slightly greasy.
I removed the dish from the oven.
Then the cheesy pepperoni pizza pasta was ready to serve.

Notes
- You can store the casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Be sure to let the casserole cool completely before putting it in an airtight container.
- What are substitutions that I can make?
You can replace the ground beef with any ground meat including ground turkey, ground chicken or Italian sausage. You can also make your own pizza sauce and use any pasta noodles. I would recommend using pasta that’s around the same size and shape as rotini for best results. You can use pork or turkey pepperoni. - Tip: I recommend shredding a block of mozzarella cheese instead of purchasing shredded mozzarella because block cheese melts better.
