To make this taco salad recipe, I started by rubbing two eye of round steaks with olive oil.

Then I seasoned the steaks with Montreal steak spice and chili powder.

I set the steaks aside while I prepared the salad.

I chopped a head of romaine lettuce and dumped the chopped lettuce into a large bowl.

I added some diced red onions, diced red bell peppers, diced green bell peppers, halved grape tomatoes and corn to the bowl.

I also added some shredded cheese to the bowl.

I tossed all of the ingredients together well.

Then I added some chunky salsa and ranch dressing to the bowl.

I tossed well again.

I heated a skillet over medium-high heat.

Once the skillet was hot, I placed the steaks in the skillet.

I cooked the steaks until they were medium rare.

Then I transferred the steaks to a cutting board and left them to rest.

I added some Fritos corn chips to the salad.

I tossed well again.

I transferred the salad to a serving bowl and topped it with diced avocado.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Steak Taco Salad:

  • 1 lb eye of round steaks (or your choice of steak)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon Montreal steak spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 romaine heart, chopped
  • 1 cup red onions, diced
  • 1 cup red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 6 oz grape tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup frozen corn kernels, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup chunky salsa
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 cups Fritos corn chips
  • 1 cup diced avocado
  • Additional shredded cheese and corn chips for topping if desired

How to Make Steak Taco Salad:

  1. Rub the olive oil on the steaks and then season them on both sides with the steak spice and chili powder. Set the steaks aside on a plate.
  2. Dump the chopped romaine, red onions, red peppers, green peppers, grape tomatoes, corn and shredded cheese into a large mixing bowl. Toss all of the ingredients together well.
  3. Add the salsa and ranch dressing to the bowl. Toss well.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the steaks to the skillet.
  6. Cook the steaks to your desired level of doneness. I cooked mine to an internal temperature of 140F for medium-rare.
  7. Set the steaks aside on a cutting board to rest.
  8. Add the corn chips to the salad. Toss well.
  9. Top the salad with the diced avocado.
  10. Sprinkle additional shredded cheese and corn chips on top if desired.
  11. Slice the steaks.
  12. Scoop the salad onto four plates.
  13. Place steak slices on top of the salads.
  14. Serve and enjoy!
