To make this pasta casserole, I started by cooking some spaghetti noodles according to the directions on the package.

Then I drained the pasta and set it aside.

While the spaghetti was cooking, I dumped some lean ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat.

I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.

Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.

Then I added some marinara sauce to the skillet.

I also added some Italian seasoning to the skillet.

I stirred well.

I added the cooked spaghetti to the skillet.

I stirred until the spaghetti was coated in sauce.

Then I removed the skillet from the heat and set it aside.

I dumped some ricotta into a mixing bowl.

I added some sour cream and Italian seasoning to the bowl.

I stirred the ingredients together well.

Then I added some shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese to the bowl.

I stirred well again.

Then I scooped about two thirds of the spaghetti mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.

I spooned the ricotta mixture on top of the spaghetti and spread it out evenly.

The I dumped the remainder of the spaghetti mixture on top and spread it out evenly.

I sprinkled some shredded mozzarella on top of the spaghetti.

Then I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until it was bubbling and the cheese on top was just starting to brown.

I removed the casserole from the oven and left it to sit for a few minutes.

I sprinkled some fresh chopped parsley on top of the casserole.

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make This Spaghetti Casserole

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1.5 lbs lean ground beef
  • 48 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons freshly chopped parsley

How to Make Spaghetti Casserole:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Cook spaghetti according directions on the package.
  3. Drain and set aside.
  4. While the spaghetti is cooking, dump the ground beef into a large non stick saute pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Crumble the ground beef well as it cooks.
  6. Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
  7. Add the marinara and 1 tablespoon of the Italian seasoning to the pan with the ground beef and stir well.
  8. Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan and stir well again.
  9. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
  10. Dump the ricotta, sour cream and remaining 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning into a mixing bowl and stir well.
  11. Add 1 1/2 cups of the shredded mozzarella and all of the parmesan to the mixing bowl and stir well again.
  12. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray.
  13. Scoop about two thirds of the spaghetti mixture into the baking dish and spread it out evenly,
  14. Spoon the ricotta mixture over the spaghetti and spread it out evenly.
  15. Spoon the remainder of the spaghetti mixture on top of the ricotta and spread it out evenly.
