To make this chili mac, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large pot over medium-high heat.
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.
Then I added a packet of chili mix to the pan.
I stirred until all of the ground beef was coated in the seasoning.
Then I added some water to the pot.
I brought the water to a boil.
Once the water was boiling, I added some macaroni noodles to the pot.
I stirred until all of the noodles were submerged in liquid.
Then I placed a lid on the pot and reduced the heat to med-low.
I left the macaroni to cook, stirring occasionally, for seven minutes.
After seven minutes, I removed the lid and stirred the pasta well.
Then I added some tomato sauce, salsa, salt, pepper and onion powder to the pot.
I stirred well and then brought it to a boil.
I left the pasta to boil for four minutes.
After four minutes, I removed the pot from the heat.
I added some shredded Tex Mex blend cheese to the pot.
I stirred until the cheese was melted.
Then I dumped the pasta mixture into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
I sprinkled some more shredded cheese on top.
Then I placed the dish in the oven and baked the casserole until the cheese on top was completely melted.
Then I removed the dish from the oven.
I left the dish to cool for a couple minutes before scooping and serving.
This hearty pasta recipe is sure to please the whole family.
The chili seasoning and salsa give this dish a little bit of a kick but it’s not overly spicy.

- Continue boiling for 4 minutes.
- After 4 minutes, remove the pot from the heat.
- Add 2 cups of the shredded cheese to the pot.
- Stir until the cheese is melted.
- Pour the pasta into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining 2 cups of cheese on top.
- Place the dish in the oven and bake until the cheese on top is completely melted. 12-15 minutes.
- Remove the dish from the oven and let it sit for a couple minutes before scooping and serving.
