FAQS:

Why is my chicken parmesan tough?
Your chicken parmesan might be tough because it is overcooked. This recipe uses chicken breasts, if your chicken is thin or if you’re using cutlets instead of breasts, then you will want to reduce the cooking time.

How to store chicken parmesan?
Store any leftovers in the fridge for 3 days in an airtight container.

How to reheat leftovers?
You can reheat the chicken in the microwave, the oven, or in the air fryer. Bake or air fry at 350 degrees F (or 177 degrees C). Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until the middle is warm and in the air fryer for 4-6 minutes or until the middle is warm. You may want to add another piece of cheese towards the end of the reheating process so the cheese on top isn’t overcooked and it’s fresh.

What should I serve with chicken parmesan?

Chicken Parmesan is a classic Italian-American dish, and there are several side dishes that pair well with it. Here are some options:

  1. Spaghetti or Pasta: Serve your Chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti or another type of pasta. Top the pasta with marinara sauce and sprinkle some grated Parmesan or mozzarella cheese on top for an extra Italian touch.
  2. Garlic Bread: A side of garlic bread is a popular choice. You can make it by spreading garlic butter on slices of Italian bread and toasting them in the oven until they’re crispy and golden brown.
  3. Salad: A fresh salad can provide a nice contrast to the richness of Chicken Parmesan. A simple garden salad with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing works well.
  4. Steamed Vegetables: Serve some steamed or roasted vegetables on the side, such as broccoli, asparagus, or green beans. It adds a healthy element to the meal.
  5. Risotto: Creamy risotto, perhaps flavored with Parmesan cheese or saffron, can be a delicious accompaniment.
  6. Mashed Potatoes: Creamy mashed potatoes can complement the dish nicely. They’re especially good if you want a heartier side.
  7. Bruschetta: A classic tomato and basil bruschetta can be a refreshing appetizer or side dish to start the meal.
  8. Roasted Potatoes: Seasoned roasted potatoes, whether regular or sweet, can be a delightful side with Chicken Parmesan.

Remember to balance the flavors and textures of your side dishes with the Chicken Parmesan. Ultimately, your choice of side will depend on your personal preferences and the occasion.

Notes

  • You can substitute the chicken breasts for chicken tenderloins but you’ll want to reduce the cooking time slightly. Still flipping them over about halfway through.
  • You can substitute for Italian bread crumbs, but you’ll want to decrease the amount of seasoning used in the bread crumb mixture.
