To make this pressure cooker asparagus, I started by washing the asparagus and snapping off the ends.
I added a trivet and water to the Instant Pot.
I lay the asparagus on the trivet in the Instant Pot.
Then I placed the lid on the Instant Pot, turned the steam release handle to the sealing position and set the Instant Pot to pressure cook on LOW for 0 minutes.
While the asparagus was cooking, I prepared the butter sauce.
I melted some butter in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave.
Then I whisked in some garlic powder.
When the Instant Pot was done cooking, I immediately turned the steam release handle to the venting position and performed a quick release.
I transferred the asparagus to a serving plate.
I seasoned the asparagus with salt, pepper, a squeeze of lemon juice and then drizzled the garlic butter over top.
I also sprinkled some parmesan cheese on top.

mushy asparagus. - The garlic butter and parmesan are optional but they definitely elevate the flavor of this dish.
- This asparagus is best served fresh but if you have leftovers, they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
- Asparagus can be reheated in the microwave with a reheat setting.
- Other options for flavor on this asparagus are chili flakes and feta cheese and a drizzle of olive oil or a classic cheddar cheese sauce.
