  • 2 lb steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced
  • 6 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal steak spice
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded provolone

Step by Step Instructions for Making Philly Cheese Steak Skillet

 STEP 1: 

To make this dish I started by slicing some steak into thin strips.

I sprinkled some salt and pepper over the steak strips.

 STEP 2: 

I tossed the strips until they were evenly seasoned with the salt and pepper.

I heated some olive oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet.

Once the oil was hot, I added the steak strips to the skillet.

 STEP 3: 

I cooked the steak strips until they were all browned on both sides.

I transferred the cooked steak strips to a plate.

 STEP 4: 

I added some sliced red onions and green peppers to the skillet.

Then cooked the onions and peppers until they softened slightly.

 STEP 5: 

I added some sliced mushrooms to the skillet.

Then stirred and continued cooking until the mushrooms were starting to brown.

 STEP 6: 

I added some minced garlic to the skillet.

Then stirred and continued cooking for a couple minutes.

 STEP 7: 

I returned the cooked steak to the skillet and stirred well.

Then I added some Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak spice to the skillet.

I stirred well again.

Then removed the skillet from the heat and sprinkled some shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese on top.

I placed the skillet in the oven under the broiler until the cheese was melted and starting to brown.
